Branch

As you finish examining the cache at Branch, you’ve already restocked it with fresh supplies. Your search of the area, however, yields nothing of note, no signs, no clues, nothing that might explain the thefts elsewhere. Just as you’re preparing to leave, an elderly voice calls out from nearby. An old man emerges from between the trees, his weathered face etched with concern. He moves slowly, deliberately, and when he speaks, there’s a bitter edge to his words.

“Another cache refilled, I see,” he mutters, shaking his head. “These young ones who’ve been training as Rangers lately... they come through, take what they need, quick as you please. But they don’t understand the responsibility anymore. Back in my day, a Ranger would never leave a cache wanting. But these new ones... they’re all in such a hurry. Too proud, too impatient. No respect for what the Rangers before them built.” He fixes you with a suspicious gaze. “Mark my words, if you’re looking for who’s been emptying these caches, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s some of these young Rangers taking more than they’re giving back.”
